The Departmental Associate for Psychology is responsible for preparing, organizing, and teaching Introductory Psychology classes and laboratories. This position will also provide assistance for students as needed, evaluate and grade laboratory reports, supervise student laboratory teaching assistants, and assist faculty with other aspects of course management and research as needed. In addition, the Departmental Associate will support our upper division statistics course and provide analytic consultation for student thesis research. This person reports to the faculty chair of the Psychology department. Reed is committed to excellence and actively seeks diversity in its educational programs and employment practices. This is a full-time 12-month exempt position, working 37.5 hours a week. The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $60,000 and will be paid semi-monthly. The expected start date is January 2018. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Collaborate with faculty members to develop and implement the new Introductory Psychology series
  • Assist in the coordination of the Introductory Psychology series
  • Serve as a consultant and mentor for students majoring in Psychology
  • Teach lab sections
  • Grade student assignments and reports
  • Prepare for Psychology 101 and 201 labs/class
  • Assist in the teaching of the laboratory components of core Psychology courses.
  • Maintain currency on the teaching and learning of Psychology by developing key contacts at professional organizations and other schools, tracking current literature, and learning and evaluating emerging ideas.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD or ABD considered with related laboratory teaching experience in Psychology or related discipline.
  • Experience working closely with and/or supervising undergraduate college students.
  • Experience in teaching at the postsecondary level.
