Registered Nurse, Part-Time

Health and Counseling

The part-time Registered Nurse assists Reed students in achieving optimal health through assessment, nursing interventions, health education, and facilitating internal/external referrals as appropriate. This is a non-benefited, part-time position with a pay rate of $27.00/hour, depending on experience. This position includes a flexible work schedule and on-call responsibility.

What you bring

  • A firm commitment towards inclusivity in all operational systems of the HCC including the delivery of healthcare services
  • Awareness of the multiplicity of intersecting identities including race, ethnicity, gender identity and sexual orientation
  • Consciousness of limitations, disparities and social inequality of healthcare accessibility to historically oppressed and marginalized populations
  • Experience performing independent clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of primary care services rendered at the HCC
  • Proficiency educating and consulting with students toward enhancing a healthy life style and reducing health compromising behaviors
  • Consultation,  collaboration and referral of information to physicians, hospitals, clinics and other community agencies
  • Experience in crisis management which can include risk to personal safety or dangerous situations in encounters with distraught or unstable students
  • Comfortability participating in case management and case review with nursing staff, medical consultants, and the administrative director and health services manager
  • Enjoyment working with a diverse community and developing and maintaining professional relationships


Current unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon and CPR healthcare certification. Applicants must be able to effectively engage with, and address health care needs in a manner that is respectful of and sensitive to student identities, whether similar or different from your own. Experience providing care with adolescent and young adult patients is desired. The position involves ongoing potential for exposure to communicable diseases and illness: potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and biohazards.
