Reed College seeks a talented individual to be our next Senior Assistant Dean of Admission and International Student Services Program Coordinator. This is a shared position, meaning the person in this role will split their time equally between the admission and international student services departments, and bridge the transition from prospective students to current students.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week with a one hour unpaid lunch. The work hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and evenings as well as three to six weeks of travel for international recruitment. Salary for this position is $49,000 per year.

  • You understand and have experience with international student support services and immigration regulations.
  • You understand territory management and have created recruiting strategies that have been effective in bolstering or fortifying international student recruitment in your current or previous roles in higher education.
  • You are a United States citizen or Permanent Resident.


For the Admission Office:

  • Successfully recruit and enroll international students for Reed College.
  • Transcript Evaluation:
    • Review, evaluate, and convert the grades and marks from international transcripts to 4.0 scale (962 in 16-17).
    • Develop a conventional method of gridding for international school systems.
  • Serve as the primary admission contact for prospective international students, families, counselors, United World College/Davis Scholars Program and other international schools and programs.
  • Review international student applications for three of four international territories.   
  • Coordinate the application review process in collaboration with the Director of Admission.
  • Travel three to six weeks for international recruitment.
  • Represent Reed College at the Council of International Schools annual forum, International Association for College Admission Counseling annual conference and other professional events.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Admission (Communication and Special Projects) in developing and maintaining a communication plan for international prospects, applicants, and admitted students.
  • Coordinate online events, panels, presentations, and interviews for international prospects, applicants, and admitted students.
  • Coordinate International “Take Reed Home” program (winter break) and “Hello from Reed” program admitted student yield program.
  • Explore potential partnerships with organizations that work with international student populations for Reed College.
  • Attend and support admission recruitment activities including on-campus events and programming.

For International Student Services:

  • Support the mission of International Student Services, developing programs and services that support the academic and personal well-being of international students.
  • Serve as a Designated School Official and an Alternate Responsible Officer in SEVIS, liaising with the federal government and advising international students on F-1 and J-1 visas of nonimmigrant visa policies and procedures while maintaining an understanding of current immigration regulations as they pertain to F-1 and J-1 students.
  • Serve as adviser to the International Student Advisory Board (ISAB) and supervise the ISAB Coordinator student worker.
  • With the Assistant Dean, coordinate the International Orientation Odyssey program.  
  • Develop programs to aid first year and exchange international students in the transition to the U.S. and college life.
  • Support the InterConnect Peer Mentor program for first year students, including support for recruitment and hiring, training, and supervision of 10-13 student mentors.
  • Develop and provide support services and programs focused on international student success and retention.
  • Provide support for the non-residential Host Family Program, including administrative support, recruitment and processing of new host family applications, matching of students and host families, and planning events for students and host families.
  • Facilitate the Summer Experience Award summer internship fellowship process
  • Develop and participate in programs for the international student population, including workshops, educational programs, cultural events, student leadership activities, and off-campus activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across campus to provide services to international students.
  • Assist with the daily operations and management of the international student services office.
  • Represent Reed in international education organization meetings and conferences, including but not limited to the Northern Oregon International Educators (NORIE) meetings and National Association of International Educators (NAFSA) conferences.
