The Area Coordinator (AC) is a professional staff position that serves as a live-in, primary manager for multiple on-campus residence halls in support of the college’s academic mission. The AC provides support, programming, information, and referrals to the Reed student community. The AC is responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating up to 15 House Advisers; maintaining a high visibility presence in the residence halls and across campus, including regular office hours; and assisting and supervising student staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of residence hall curriculum. They also advise students on matters related to Residence Life, which includes mediating conflicts and making referrals to appropriate campus resources for specialized assistance; and follow-up on resident concerns.

This is a 10-month live-in, full-time, exempt position with an annual salary of $39,371. This includes a fully furnished apartment, housing for the entire year, washer/dryer, and a meal plan. What You'll Do
- Student staff supervision: hire, train, and evaluate House Advisers
- Manage a community of approximately 250-300 students. Be available, approachable and responsive to students.
- Provide and/or facilitate educational opportunities that enhance student learning and growth in areas connected to the division’s educational priority
- Case manage students in respective areas group, which includes conducting meetings with residents as follow-up to violations of the Alcohol and Other Drug Policy and other disruptive and/or harmful behaviors; Advise and refer individual students and groups regarding personal and academic needs, Residence Life procedures, and College policies
- Crisis Management: serve in an after hours on-call capacity and triage students of concern in collaboration with on-call team
- Housing Operations: manage ongoing facility maintenance, complete room inventories, assist with opening and closing, support main office operations
- Departmental Initiatives: participate in the overall planning and management of the residence hall system and provide input in the development of policies and procedures
