The Clinical Case Manager coordinates prevention, intervention, and support services for students to assist them in building resilience and navigating various barriers that might otherwise impede personal and academic stability and success. In discharging these duties, the Clinical Case Manager at all times retains the interests of gender, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, etc. at the very core of their work. They are skilled in best practices for working with students from diverse backgrounds. All of the Clinical Case Manager's activities are performed within standards and ethical principles of their profession, as well as applicable legal mandates for mental health professionals in the State of Oregon, and in service of the Reed college mission.
This is an exempt position working 10 months out of the year, August through May. Typical working hours Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. The salary for this position is $61,500. - You are able to consistently maintain empathy and compassion in complex and difficult situations.
What You'll Do (Essential Duties)
- Provide case management for students with complex mental health problems and physical and mental health comorbidities. Partner with the student and collaborate with others, including the Assistant Dean for Student Support, to develop practical and effective support plans.
- Serve as a resource to Reed College students with specific challenges in order to support academic and developmental success.
- Provide direct services to students in the form of supportive contact, brief individual therapy, group therapy facilitation, daytime and after-hours crisis services (on a rotational basis), and outreach.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with campus partners and community providers, including local hospitals and intensive outpatient and residential treatment programs. Maintain a database of community resources and develop memoranda of understanding in coordination with the Counseling and Medical Directors.
- In cooperation with Medical Services, serve as the referral coordinator for students in need of off-campus mental and physical health resources. As necessary, coordinate student transitions from Health and Counseling Center (HCC) services to external and community providers, with planned transfers of care.
- Assist the Directors in communicating with staff, parents, families, or designated emergency contacts regarding emergencies, including hospitalizations and other crises, to help facilitate student success on campus, or transition back to campus, when possible. Assist students with discharge planning, follow-up appointments, and coordination of other services following hospitalization.
Masters degree (MA, MFT, MSW) in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy or related field and at least three years of experience providing case management and clinical social work services. Must be licensed, or license eligible in the state of Oregon. Experience with university/college student population preferred. Experience with crisis intervention preferred.
