Maintenance Engineer

Reed College is hiring for a Maintenance Engineer. This position is responsible for the HVAC preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of all campus heating and cooling systems. This position performs a wide variety of advanced skilled work to maintain campus mechanical equipment both analog  and digital controls. This position is part of the Facilities department and reports to the Director of Facilities Operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain and administer building energy management systems scheduling using designated scheduling software
  • Perform timely problem solving, troubleshooting and repair of equipment, reports of heating or cooling problems, and other urgent situations
  • Identify, implement, and evaluate effective preventative maintenance programs
  • Perform preventative maintenance of a variety of equipment and electrical repairs as it relates to HVAC equipment and other equipment as required
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed after hours and on weekends
  • Maintain a productive and safe work environment
  • Maintain all levels of operation for all HVAC/R equipment, ie, Boilers, Chillers, cooling towers, variable frequency drives, motor controllers, pumps, etc.
  • Operate, maintain, inspect all equipment related to a central heating plant, boilers, de-aerator, condensate equipment and compressors
  • Work with inspectors and authorities having jurisdiction, for safety compliance for all related equipment, such as pressure vessels
  • Adjust operations, scheduling of equipment to manage energy consumption, improving campus carbon reduction goalsAccess and retrieve automated work orders and assign work orders as necessary to technicians
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to recommend and evaluate energy efficiency improvements
  • Recommend standards and specifications for equipment, materials, and workmanship

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in an HVAC field which includes,
  • 2 years of experience in managing and/or servicing direct digital controls
  •  Active Oregon electrical license, LME, LBME, LEB or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
