The Assistant Director of Residence Life position involves an array of administrative responsibilities for the Office of Residence Life, including but not limited to the supervision of professional staff, residential experience development, and responding to student emergencies. This position will work very closely with a number of campus partners to help facilitate and implement a successful and comprehensive residential experience at Reed College.

This is a full-time role with typical work hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one hour unpaid lunch. This position also requires some evening and weekend hours. This is a 12 month live-on campus position.

Starting salary for this position is $56,800 - $60,800. Pay offers are contingent upon experience and are determined through an internal pay assessment. This is an exempt position in grade 5.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with House Advisor and Area Coordinator recruitment, including selection and training
  • Support housing operations, including but not limited to openings, closings, inventory of furnishings and equipment inspections, room changes, room selection, housing assignments, etc
  • Partner with the Director of Residence Life to set and assess departmental goals, objectives, programs, services and outcomes that support student success
  • Manage the on-going development of on-campus Interest Based Housing Programs in collaboration with the appropriate campus partners
  • Supervise and coach Residence Life staff
  • Support residential case management, which includes advising and conducting meetings with residents as follow-up related to personal and academic needs, Residence Life procedures, and College policies
  • Serve in an after hours on-call capacity rotation in collaboration with a weekly on-call team
  • Serve as a member of the Care Team and other college-affiliated committees
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field, including but not limited to student affairs administration, counseling, hospitality management, and business administration
  • 2 years of experience in Residence Life, which can include one year of graduate experience
