Summary

The Program Coordinator establishes and maintains an active, highly-visible, and deeply-engaged presence on campus. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing on-campus and off-campus social and education events to  enrich the quality of students’ campus life, facilitate community building, celebrate traditions, and increase students’ sense of belonging at Reed.

The typical work week at Reed College is 37.5 hours, and hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with a one-hour unpaid lunch. Salary for this position starts at $27.00-$29.00 per hour. Offers are based on experience and are determined through an internal pay assessment. This is an overtime eligible position in grade 6. This is not a remote position.

  • You are an experienced and organized event planner with strong program design and project management skills.
  • You always have a plan, and you can determine what is urgent versus important.
  • You have experience organizing, leading, and implementing all scales of events.
  • You are highly focused on the details and consistently follow up.
  • You enjoy working with students and other groups of people. You prefer a team environment at work, rather than working alone; but you are also very adept at working independently. You don’t hesitate to roll up your sleeves and pitch in, even when it’s not your job.

  • You are self-aware and understand the concerns, pressures, and inequities that first-generation students and other marginalized communities face in higher education.
  • You have a demonstrated commitment to advancing equity. You are comfortable working on teams with varying gender, racial, socio-economic, ability, sexual orientation, and cultural identities.
What You’ll Do

Program and Event Development and Management
  • Design, implement, and assess events and programming to provide community building and holistic engagement inclusive of the entire campus community, including students, staff, and faculty
  • Manage the planning and implementation of large-scale annual programs
  • Manage the planning and implementation of the Paideia class application process, class selection and scheduling
  • Research, negotiate contracts, and hire external vendors
  • Collaborate with vendors by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
Student Worker Mentor
  • Hire, coach, and provide skills-based training to 8-10 student program coordinators
  • Coordinate and manage event planning tasks alongside student coordinators with project management tool, Monday.com
  • Guide and support students as they plan activities and experience hands-on learning with skills like event registration, advertising, problem solving and assessment
  • Review nd respond to studnet event requests
Program Operations and Assessment
  • Work and stay within program budget and operating plan
  • Create strategies and tools of assessment for event accessibility, ideas, and feedback from the campus community
Team and Community Support
  • Develop partnerships between staff, faculty, and students
  • Provide program planning and implementation support to Orientation and staff-led programs
Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of a degree
  • 2 years of experience in program development or project management
  • Preferred Qualifications: 
    • Master’s Degree, preferably in Student Affairs, Education, Student Development Theory
    • Experience and proven results in event management
