Reed College seeks a reliable and motivated individual to join our Facilities Services team as a Maintenance Technician I/II (HVAC). This position plays a critical role in maintaining and servicing campus HVAC systems and performing general building maintenance as needed. Build your skills while you work! All maintenance staff receive paid training, and motivated Technician I employees have the chance to earn pay increases by completing milestone certifications.

This is a non-exempt, full-time role working on campus with typical hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with rotating on-call coverage.

Starting pay for this position is: Technician I - $25 - $27 per hour; Technician II - $29.25 per hour. Pay offers are contingent upon experience and are determined through an internal pay assessment.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform skilled HVAC maintenance and repairs for buildings and campus equipment.
  • Respond to general building maintenance and service requests using industry-standard tools and processes.
  • Serve as a point of contact for contracted services in your area of expertise.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for urgent maintenance needs during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Support seasonal, scheduled, and emergency maintenance tasks throughout the year.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members on projects and shared responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technician I 
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience in maintenance.
  • Technician II 
    • 3 years of relevant hands-on experience in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing  
Preferreed Qualifications
  • HVAC certification or journeyman-level experience
  • Formal apprenticeship or trade school training in HVAC or related fields
  • Active and valid driver’s license.
