Medical Services Director

Health and Counseling


The Medical Services Director leads the day-to-day clinical operations of Medical Services within the Health and Counseling Center (HCC), providing direct care, staff supervision, and oversight of medical programs and regulatory compliance. The Medical Services Director also manages efforts to integrate medical and counseling services, including coordinated care, shared protocols, and aligned service delivery, to support an integrated, holistic model of student health at the HCC.

The position reports to the Associate Dean of Students for Health and Well-being, and primarily works on campus, interfacing with students, student families, faculty, and staff.

The starting salary for this position is $120,000-125,000. Pay offers are contingent upon experience and are determined through an internal pay assessment. This is an exempt position in grade 10.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide and direct patient care in accordance with licensure and scope of practice
  • Lead day-to-day clinical operations of Medical Services, including staffing, scheduling, workflow, and budgetary oversight and management
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate medical and operations staff while developing and assessing annual Medical Services goals aligned with Health & Counseling Center priorities and operational data
  • Lead HCC strategic planning, program development, and quality improvement efforts
  • Serve as a visible campus partner and liaison to students, faculty, staff, and families through participation in health promotion initiatives and multidisciplinary teams, including Behavioral Intervention, Emergency Response, and CARE
  • Ensure compliance with clinical standards and all applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements, including oversight of regulations and governing bodies such as HIPAA, FERPA, CDC, CLIA-waived laboratory standards, PPMP, OBOP, OSHA, OMB, and OSBN
  • Establish and enforce clinical policies, protocols, and a drug dispensing formulary to govern the administration of medications by authorized personnel within the HCC
  • Direct and maintain immunization, laboratory, and medication management programs in compliance with regulations
  • Support emergency preparedness and infectious disease response in coordination with campus leadership
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Health and Well-being to design data-informed, proactive community engagement that builds a campus culture of wellness
  • Prepare for and maintain AAMHC accreditation and quality assurance standards
  • Maintain availability for after-hours and weekend consultation and crisis response

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years experience practicing as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner or MD/DO
  • 5 years supervisory experience in a medical clinic or college health setting
  • Active, unrestricted license as a Physician (MD/DO) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the State of Oregon
  • Active, valid prescriptive and dispensing authority issued by the applicable Oregon licensing board
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration or eligibility to obtain
  • National certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Nurse Executive Leader or Physician board

certification in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatric/Adolescent Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Gynecology, or other college health appropriate ABMS-recognized medical specialty

  • Experience in integrated health systems or cross-functional student services environments, with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments in support of coordinated care
